Sonya Roberts

Sonya Roberts is the retired President of Cargill’s salt business, which produces and sells food, deicing, water softening, industrial and agriculture salt products in North America and Europe. She leads 2,000 employees across 25 production facilities in North America and the Dutch Caribbean.

Prior to that, Sonya established and led growth ventures and strategic pricing for Cargill’s North America protein business, where she developed and implemented business strategies, entered emerging businesses (alternative proteins and seafood), led the pet treats business, evaluated and executed business development opportunities and implemented strategic pricing.

Since joining Cargill in 2008, Sonya was the managing director of the egg and Canadian chicken business, the vice president of sales and marketing for salt, and a senior manager in power and natural gas.

Prior to joining Cargill, Sonya was a leader with ConocoPhillips for 19 years in strategy, marketing, business operations and finance.

Sonya holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of North Texas. She and her husband live in Minnesota and have two daughters, Lauren (Graduate of the University of MN) and Katelyn (Junior at Penn State University).. She is currently on the board of directors of Filtration Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Madison Industries. She has previously served on the boards of MBOLD, Catallia Mexican Foods, The BrandLab, YWCA, and WomenVentures. She is also a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
